TURNPIKE STADIUM
Arlington, Texas


 
FACTS: Turnpike Stadium, which opened in 1965, was originally the home of the Dallas-Fort Worth Spurs Texas League team, then became Arlington Stadium upon its expansion for the Texas Rangers' opening season in 1972.  Big Time Wrestling held its first stadium shows here in July 1967 and August 1968.

STATUS:  Demolished after the team moved to Rangers Ballpark in Arlington in 1994.

FORMER ADDRESS:  1500 East Copeland Road.  The facility was located on what is now Rangers Ballpark's northernmost parking lot, off Tom Landry Highway (I-30) at the corner of East Copeland and Pennant Drive.
