REUNION ARENA

FACTS:  Completed in 1980, Reunion Arena was the original home of the Dallas Mavericks as well as the Dallas Stars (beginning in 1993), and was the site of WCCW's Dallas Star Wars shows beginning in 1981.  In late 2005, after the Mavericks and Stars both relocated to nearby American Airlines Center, Reunion served as one of several shelters in Texas for Hurricane Katrina evacuees. STATUS:  As the facility has no luxury boxes and would be difficult if not impossible to expand due to the design of its roof, Dallas city officials have elected to close Reunion Arena permanently, effective June 30, 2008, with demolition presumably to follow shortly thereafter.
