FACTS:
Completed in 1980, Reunion Arena was the original home of the Dallas Mavericks as
well as the Dallas Stars (beginning in 1993), and was the site of WCCW's
Dallas Star Wars shows beginning in 1981. In late 2005, after the
Mavericks and Stars both relocated to nearby American Airlines Center,
Reunion served as one of several shelters in Texas for Hurricane Katrina
evacuees.
STATUS:Demolished in spring 2009. Because the facility had
no luxury boxes and could not be expanded due to the design of its roof, Dallas
city officials elected to close Reunion Arena effective
June 30, 2008.
