Although not WCCW memorabilia per se, When the News Went Live: Dallas 1963
is of interest to fans as it includes contributions from former World Class
announcer Bill Mercer [standing at far right in cover photo]. The book
is a compelling account of the experiences of Mercer and three other reporters
from then-CBS affiliate KRLD-TV (now Fox affiliate KDFW) in Dallas as they
covered the shootings of President John F. Kennedy and his alleged assassin
Lee Harvey Oswald. In September 2007, Mercer's Play by Play: Tales from a
Sports Broadcasting Insider, a
memoir of his career (including his stint as WCCW commentator as well as his
earlier work in pro wrestling), was published. |
